The Fresno Bee - Valley a Hot Spot for Reality TV Contestants

The Central San Joaquin Valley continues to be a hotbed for reality television.
Visalia real estate agent Robert Naugle was featured on an episode of HGTV's "House Hunters" that aired in late September.
On the cable series, agents show three different properties to prospective buyers. In this case, it was Wynter Benway and Will Binder, a couple that would marry as soon as they found a home.
"We started looking at houses back in early 2010 and that's when they decided to send in an application. They didn't hear anything so we started looking again in August. As soon as we started looking, they got a response," Naugle says.
The challenge Naugle faced was that Benway wanted a move-in-ready home while Binder wanted a well-priced fixer-upper. They finally picked a foreclosure that had been redone. And if you are wondering, the couple have married.
Also, a camera crew will be at the Selma Auto Mall on Saturday and Sunday to shoot what could become a new reality TV series. The program would offer a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in the car-selling business.
As for reality competition shows, the team of Fresno's Andy Finch and Tommy Czeschin of Crowley Lake, both professional snowboarders, have made it to the final eight on "The Amazing Race." On Sunday, the teams head to Thailand.
And, Visalia native Avi Kaplan and the four other members of the a cappella group Pentatonix -- Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado and Kevin Olusola -- have survived another week of competition on the NBC competition show "The Sing-Off."
